About Sofia Siraj-Wu
Sofia Siraj-Wu is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). She earned her Master of Science degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling and her undergraduate degree in Political Science from Georgia State University (GSU).
Sofia’s counseling style is open, supportive, strength-based, and warm. As a creative person herself, Sofia loves using Art in Therapy interventions, particularly with child and adolescent clients. She also utilizes the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, grounding techniques, and a strength-based approach in her counseling sessions. She has experience with individual therapy and group therapy, and has attended workshops in Adlerian Play Therapy and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
Specialty Area and Education
Sofia works with children, adolescents, and adults, and specializes in working with clients with disabilities. She has experience with treating anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, adjustment, ADHD, stress management, and clients who identify with the LGBTQ+ community. She believes in working together with her clients to discover what treatment modalities will be most beneficial to help them work toward their goals. She enjoys guiding clients on their path to understanding their identities and knows that the journey to self-awareness and self-acceptance can be challenging. She is here to walk with you on your journey, and show you the light and hope along the way.
