Executive Functioning Groups

Executive Functioning Groups for high school, middle school, and elementary school at The Life Change Group

What are Executive Functioning Groups?

Our Executive Functioning Groups help parents and students get better at organization, time management and helping students complete assignments on time. We have created 3 specific group for your aged student - high school, middle school, and elementary school.

High School

If your high school student struggles with planning ahead, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining focus, these group therapy and workshop sessions are for you. Executive functioning challenges can lead to stress, lower grades, and conflict at home. Our group sessions provide high school students with structured strategies and peer support. We've found this helps to improve academic independence while also teaching skills that prepare students for college or the workforce. Parents benefit by seeing teens take more ownership of responsibilities, reduce procrastination, and build confidence.

Middle School

Does your student in middle school often lose track of materials, forget to turn in assignments, or have trouble shifting between tasks? During this stage, students may struggle with impulse control, flexible thinking, and emotional regulation. All of these contribute to inconsistent performance and growing frustration at home and school. Our Executive Functioning sessions create a safe, supportive environment. Students can learn strategies for self-monitoring, developing routines, and managing distractions. For parents, the benefit lies in having consistent tools to support your child’s growing independence, as well as reduced stress around homework battles and daily routines.

Elementary School

For elementary students, we see many finding it difficult to follow multi-step directions. Others have trouble staying on task or managing frustration when routines change. Does that sound familiar? Younger children with executive functioning challenges may also show difficulty with transitions, organization of schoolwork, and regulating their energy levels. Group sessions at this age provide foundational skill-building in attention, working memory, and emotional regulation. We do this through engaging, developmentally appropriate activities. Parents gain insight into their child’s needs and learn strategies they can reinforce at home, creating consistency across environments and laying the groundwork for long-term success in school and social settings.
