Nori Truscott, LPC
Overview
Nori Truscott ("Nori-Lynn") is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Masters Degree in Community Psychology. She works primarily with adults and has experience working with mandated clients through accountability court programs and DFCS. Her specialties include working with clients who are struggling with substance abuse/use issues, substance abuse aftercare, depression, anxiety and trauma and abuse.
Approach
Nori-Lynn is a person-centered therapist who works collaboratively with people seeking her care. As a counselor she strives to provide a safe, judgement-free space allowing clients to explore and understand their past and plan for their future. She sees each person as an individual on a unique journey. Nori-Lynn believes that we “hold the keys to our own healing” and understands her role as helping others identify their individual strengths. She is honored to work in partnership with others to identify, challenge and overcome any internal or external challenges.
Experience
Nori-Lynn’s work experience includes providing individual and group therapy for Fayette County Accountability Court Program. Nori-Lynn worked with adult clients struggling with substance use, trauma and other disorders providing individual therapy and parenting support to help reunite families. She was also the Mental Health Liaison for Head Start where she provided classroom observation as well as support for both teachers and staff.
Additional Experience
In addition, she provided workshops for teachers, staff and parents on issues such as Self-Care, Conscious Discipline and Emotional Regulation. She also has had the honor of providing volunteer support to veterans through veteran run support groups and organizations. Nori-Lynn volunteered with and participated in “Music and Memory” research for Alzheimer’s patients. She has also worked with women who were in the criminal justice system (incarcerated or on parole or probation).
Education
Nori-Lynn received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Politics, Economics and Law from State University of New York at Old Westbury. She received her Masters in Community Psychology from Alverno University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Nori-Lynn also has training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma informed care, "She is Seeking Safety" for groups and individuals (trauma and substance abuse), Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing.
