Mary Ellen Huckabee, Counseling Intern
Mary Ellen is pursuing her Master’s of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling at Georgia State University. After her expected graduation in 2023, she plans to seek her certification as a Clinical Rehabilitation Counselor and as a National Certified Counselor and eventual licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, following work as an Associate Professional Counselor.
Mary Ellen intends to personalize your counseling experience by learning about your goals for counseling and by working with you to establish a warm and comfortable environment in which to work on a plan together. Because counseling is a second career for Mary Ellen, she hopes the empathy gained from her own life transitions and experiences will help create a judgment-free, caring space for you to share your concerns. Mary Ellen has received training in Person-Centered Therapy but is open to and looks forward to incorporating elements from Solution-
Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other therapies as appropriate. As your provider, Mary Ellen will be supervised by Dr. Pamela Wright of The Life Change Group and a Georgia State University supervisor.
Mary Ellen graduated from Agnes Scott College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. She received her Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She expects to receive her Master’s of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling in 2023. Mary Ellen has also received ASIST suicide prevention, Suicide2Hope suicide prevention and Psychological First Aid training.
