About Dr. Amanda Hannon, Ph.D.
Dr. Hannon is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Georgia with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and Human Systems. She obtained her doctorate degree from Florida State University in the combined program for Counseling Psychology and School Psychology after receiving her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology at Western Kentucky University. Dr. Hannon enjoys working to help clients work towards their personal, interpersonal, and professional goals by encouraging them to explore and express their vulnerabilities and needs in session and outside of session.
Dr. Hannon’s experience prior to joining The Life Change Group includes working as a Licensed Psychologist for a university counseling center in Virginia, where she provided individual, couples, and crisis counseling to the young adult population. During her work with college students, she provided outreach and consultation services on topics related to relationships, self-esteem, and mental health concerns among young adults. Dr. Hannon has experience in the academic realm as well, acting as lead instructor for a communication and relationship building course for undergraduates at FSU as well as conducting assessments for learning disorders and attentional deficits with young adults, adolescents, and children. Dr. Hannon specializes in issues related to trauma, adjustment, sexual orientation and gender identity, depression, and anxiety, and has experience providing support to individuals struggling with self-esteem, relationship concerns, and academic and professional difficulties. She also has extensive experience in conducing assessments for academic concerns, including learning disorders and attention deficit disorder.

Dr. Hannon’s therapeutic style incorporates interpersonal, person-centered, and cognitive behavior therapy with an emphasis on personal strengths and resilience. She includes a balance of challenge and support in promoting progress toward client’s identified treatment goals, with a primary focus on creating a warm, genuine, and empathic relationship. Dr. Hannon finds fulfillment and meaning in her work as a psychologist, and views the therapy process as a rewarding opportunity to help clients express their unique narratives and author the next chapter of their life story.
